Stop, slow down.

South of Eschenlohe, the yellow A sign indicates the start of the slow-moving section.

At the moment, however, the trains end in Murnau anyway.

The DB network is imposing blatant speed limits on more and more regional train routes in Bavaria, some are completely blocked.

The situation will continue to worsen.

Repair plans do not exist.

Munich – Sometimes the trains are slowed down to 70 km/h, sometimes it is 40 km/h, in extreme cases only 10 km/h: The number of slow-moving sections on the Bavarian regional routes is constantly increasing.

One reason may be porous concrete sleepers of a certain type - nationwide 200,000, maybe even more were installed.

But general superstructure defects are also slowing down the track.

At 20 km/h from Munich to Oberau - nothing has been repaired yet

Already in the days after the train accident in Burgrain, the railways had identified a total of five spots on the Werdenfels route between Oberau and Munich as defective and imposed speed limits.

The first is right between Oberau and Eschenlohe - from the federal road next to it, the large yellow signs are clearly visible, which tell the engine driver to the slow-moving section.

Sometimes, for example near Gauting, only 20 km/h is allowed to be driven.

Nothing has been repaired since then - on the contrary: the repair backlog is getting bigger and bigger.

Our newspaper has the current La report.

La means slow-moving section, DB Netz sends weekly updates to its engine drivers.

The for the week of August 19th to 25th comprises 180 pages for the southern La area, which also includes Baden-Württemberg.

Accordingly, two more slow-moving sections have been added to the route of the Ammerseebahn Geltendorf-Weilheim due to superstructure defects.

New speed limits for regional trains in Weilheim-Schongau - with subsequent problems

There have also been new speed limits between Weilheim-Schongau near Peißenberg since July 20: the train sometimes has to slow down to 20 km/h – of all places where it is otherwise allowed to drive at 80 km/h (which is a lot on the route).

Norbert Moy, spokesman for Pro Bahn for Upper Bavaria, finds this very problematic: Because the railway lines are also feeder lines, the trains there at the Murnau and Weilheim junctions are synchronized with the regional trains towards Munich.

"Sometimes the train to Munich is waiting now, sometimes not."

Oberammergau-Murnau permanently closed - BOB routes in Tölz and Miesbach also affected

It is even more extreme between Oberammergau and Murnau: between Bad Kohlgrub and Oberammergau, the train has only been allowed to travel 10 km/h at one point since July 4th.

However, this is currently hypothetical: the entire route is officially closed for repair work for an indefinite period of time - only buses drive.

Superstructure defects are also an issue on other regional routes - for example on the BOB route Holzkirchen-Bayrischzell and Schaftlach-Bad Tölz or on the branch line Rosenheim-Mühldorf (since Wednesday at Rott).

Mayors sound the alarm because of the dead line in Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Bahn speaks of the concept

The mayors in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen complained in a joint letter to Heike Junge-Latz, the head of maintenance management at DB Netz in southern Bavaria.

The railways must start "immediately" with the renovation of the route.

The trains are currently ending in Murnau.

It is "incomprehensible that this railway line, which serves as a 'lifeline' for many commuters, schoolchildren and guests, is not or no longer regularly served".

However, it is not to be expected that the dilapidated condition of the railway lines will change any time soon.

"The concept for renewal measures is currently being developed," explains a railway spokeswoman.

Details would be announced "promptly".
