For some it has nostalgic value, others don't even know it: the Hindenburg Bridge in the southeast of Hallbergmoos.
It is to be completely renewed.
Hallbergmoos -
The building at the end of the Garchinger Weg is mainly used for agriculture.
And maybe a few cyclists and day trippers.
Now the community is spending a lot of money to completely renovate it.
Because the ravages of time gnawed at her.
Experts assume that the damage will spread and the structure will deteriorate
Experts, including TÜV Süd, have been complaining about the condition of the building since 2008 and are recommending a new building.
It is said that the load-bearing capacity and stability are significantly impaired, among other things, due to weakening of the cross-section of the concrete components and corrosion.
It is currently limited to a load of six tons.
"Traffic safety is no longer given due to the damage to the fall protection," the experts judge.
They assume that the damage will spread and irreparable deterioration of the structure will set in.
New construction of the bridge will cost up to 800,000 euros
The most economical solution is a new building.
According to "rough" estimates, this will cost 750,000 to 800,000 euros.
How prices will develop until completion in autumn 2024 is not yet foreseeable.
Planning and construction will take about two years.
Subject to the approval of the supplementary budget, the municipal council has now given the green light.
The planning costs are estimated at 130,000 euros and are set aside in the budget for 2022 and 2023.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
Tanja Knieler (CSU) suggested "securing" parts of the building and setting them up as souvenirs in the local area.
Agriculture consultant Markus Loibl (Einigkeit) asked that the affected farmers be informed in good time about the construction work, which will begin in April 2024, and alternative routes.

The Hindenburg Bridge was built around 1916.
200 Russian prisoners of war were involved in the construction work.
The work had to be supervised by Otto Lackermeier, Josef Loibl and Josef Kreilinger.
Their descendants still live in the community today.
Therefore, for some, it has a certain historical value.
The bridge over the Schwaigbach is not under monument protection.
It can therefore be replaced without any restrictions.
