A serious security failure in the most secure place in the country • The possibility that the burglars had internal cooperation is being investigated • A few days before the break-in, the fence from which they penetrated into the sterile area was neutralized • It is not known if and what was stolen • Bullets left by the burglars when they escaped were found at the scene

This is supposed to be one of the most secure places in the country.

Last week, as we reveal in "Israel Hayom", unknown persons managed to breach the first of two fences in the security circuit of the airspace at the David Ben-Gurion Airport (NATBG)

.

It is believed that the burglars tried to steal weapons.

Neutralize fence before hacking.

The possibility that the burglars benefited from the internal cooperation of some of the people in the field is being examined.

Bullets that belong to the Airports Authority were taken from a container located inside the secured area near the fence.

The burglars tried to move the bullets in bags to the other side of the fence, but without success.

The bullets were found, and it is currently unclear what stopped the burglars from continuing the process of stealing the equipment.

In the container there was additional equipment that belongs to the airport authority, but it is not known what equipment and what the quantities are.

The investigation is underway and it is possible that there was significant equipment there, but at the moment the officials in charge of the container do not know for sure what was in it.

The possibility that the burglars managed to move and steal some of the equipment is being investigated.

Strange coincidence

According to what is known, the fence in the area where the break-in was carried out was neutralized a few days before the unusual event.

It may be a coincidence, but the things may be related.

Another fact that raises the fear of internal cooperation is that the container was moved to this area, an abandoned area that used to be an air force base, just a few days before the break-in.

According to the information in our possession, the second fence that leads to the airspace in Benghazi was not breached, and the intruders did not at any point have access to the airspace in Benghazi.

However, senior security officials in Israel consider the break-in to be a very serious incident: "This is an unusual incident.

If they broke through the fence and managed to break into the container that had old bullets in it, it is extremely serious.

If there is a collaborator here from the inside, it is even more serious."

In Israel there is one of the most professional security systems in Israel, and it is studied all over the world. There are many security circles there. The deeper you go into the terminal area and the airspace, the more strict the security system becomes.

Certain security officials in Israel, who are usually informed of important investigation details, were excluded this time from the details of the incident due to its sensitivity and seriousness, and only a few are involved and know the details in depth.

Hagai Topolansky, CEO of the Airports Authority, ordered an additional investigation to be opened in addition to the police investigation. The Airports Authority stated: "The incident is being investigated by the Israel Police." No response was received from the police until the issue was closed.
