At the 18th Weihenstephan Mountain Festival, the white and blue way of life was once again most beautifully celebrated.

After all, Freising is a beer town.

Freising

– You sat in the academy courtyard, but it wasn't academic at all.

Unless one would see a science in the white and blue way of life.

For the visitors of the now 18th Weihenstephan Mountain Festival, the beer- and music-blissful rendezvous on Saturday high up on the Nahrungsmittelberg was of course neither science nor art, but pure enjoyment.

Because even after a two-year pandemic break, people have not forgotten how to be comfortable and followed the call of the mountain (and the beer) with great devotion.

lucky with the weather

That luck belongs to the brave, this saying came true once again on Saturday.

Because the decision of those responsible to hold the mountain festival was rewarded with ideal weather - no sweltering heat like in the days before, but also no rain, but a pleasant 20 degrees and cloudy weather.

The rush was correspondingly large - so large that at around 5 p.m. the first visitors got the beer table sets provided as an addition and set them up.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Not only the stands with culinary offers and Bavarian delicacies and of course the dispensing points for beer & Co. were in a kind of state of siege, but also the small children's carousel, the children's train, the bouncy castles and the tables for children's face painting.

You could feel it everywhere, the joy of finally being able to celebrate together again on the Nahrungsmittelberg.

Here you only drove first class: the children's railway was fully booked throughout the festival.

Of course, a proper celebration also includes the right music: the Stadtkapelle Freising provided the hearty, white-blue prelude.

At exactly 6:01 p.m., the marching band of the volunteer fire brigade moved into the academy courtyard and gave a small but nice stand concert in front of the stage, before the Sonic Superband took over the musical scepter in the evening with Bine Heller on the microphone and demonstrated their qualities as a mood and celebration ribbon proved.

Freising, the beer town

The state brewery was more than satisfied with the visit.

And the fact that many a visitor stocked up on small and large beer glasses from Weihenstephan in the fan shop, and that many also took part in the beer tasting to learn the secrets of beer was not only proof that Freising is also a beer town , but then gave the mountain festival high above the university town a touch of science and the academic art of brewing.
