Breastfeeding plays a major role in strengthening the child’s immunity and health, as breast milk is rich in antibodies that help the child fight viruses and bacteria, especially in the first six months of his life.

During the World Breastfeeding Week, pediatricians recommend choosing breastfeeding because breast milk contains an integrated chain of food that benefits physical and psychological growth, according to pediatrician Dr. Rasha Daghestani.

Dr. Daghestani pointed to the importance of breastfeeding to protect the child from obesity and digestive problems in the future, noting that studies showed that children who received nutrition through breastfeeding were less affected by allergic diseases, celiac disease, and otitis media during the first year of life compared to those who received breastfeeding. With artificial milk.

According to Daghestani, mother’s milk is characterized by physiological sterility and the appropriate temperature for the child without the need for prior preparation, stressing the need to start giving mother’s milk to the child immediately after birth.

Dr. Daghestani pointed out that the duration of breastfeeding and its number, especially in the first months of a child's life, can exceed 10 times a day, to be regulated automatically after that, and the number decreases with the introduction of some foods after the age of six months.

It is noteworthy that the World Breastfeeding Week from 1 to 7 August is an occasion to raise awareness of its importance and benefits, as the data of UNICEF and the World Health Organization indicate that about 44 percent of infants around the world receive breastfeeding, especially in the first six months of life, and this percentage is less than the target sought by the Association global health and reach 50 percent by 2025.
