The Ministry of Construction and Housing today (Monday) began notifying the 6,269 households that won the "discounted apartment" lottery, of which 541 are in Sderot and 398 in Ashkelon.
So far this year, more than 17,000 eligible people have won, and in October, registration will open for the program's third round lottery.
Last week, the Ministry of Construction and Housing held 115 lotteries, in which 6,269 apartments were drawn in more than 25 localities across the country.
During the next few days, the results of the lottery registrations will be updated in the personal area of the website, including the position of each registrant in the waiting list, and the results will be delivered to the registrants by text message and e-mail for each lottery for which they registered.
According to the Director General of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Aviad Friedman, "About 6,000 households will receive the happy news of purchasing an apartment at a significant discount throughout the country.
In Ashkelon, almost 26,000 eligible people were registered, and in Sderot, more than 9,000. The data show that demand is also high in the southern cities, and the public believes in them and wants to live in them.
We will continue to produce housing solutions for all citizens of the country."
By the end of next year, tens of thousands of eligible people will receive notices of winning, so that about half of the 120 thousand eligible people who registered at the beginning of the year will be able to win the opportunity to purchase an apartment at a significant discount from the state.
The lottery procedure was conducted in a computerized system, under the supervision of a certified external accountant, and the calculation of the results was carried out in a closed lottery room in the presence of the lottery committee that supervises, checks and signs all the results.
