"Hamas has left the resistance": the Arab world is reacting to the ceasefire in Gaza Israel today

2022-08-08T10:01:33.612Z

A Syrian newspaper close to the Assad regime harshly criticized the terrorist organization: "a rift with the Islamic Jihad" • In another media outlet they estimated: "The assassination operations against the senior members of the terrorist organization will expand" • And there were also those who insisted: "The Jihad has won"

"Hamas left the resistance - and responded with messages": This morning (Monday), the Arab world commented on the cease-fire between Israel and the terrorist organizations in Gaza while sharply criticizing the conduct of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Operation Dawn.

On the other hand, there were also those who claimed that the Islamic Jihad "won" the round of fighting.

The Syrian daily "Al-Watan" close to the Assad regime wrote in its headline: "Hamas left the resistance - and responded to the aggression with messages."

In the opening article, a Palestinian source was quoted as saying that what happened in Gaza created a rift in Palestinian circles: "Where is the role of Hamas in light of the massacres that were carried out. What about the consequences of Israel's explicit announcement of the success in neutralizing Hamas - which caused outrage in the Gaza Strip and created a great moral order."

The source claimed that this is "the first time that Hamas justifies its non-involvement in repelling aggression and protecting the people of the Gaza Strip by saying that it will step in at a time of need."

In light of this, the source said that "there are tensions between the factions in Gaza and this is a goal that Israel has pursued.

Also, the source estimated that the relationship between the factions has entered a new phase as far as coordination in the common mercy is concerned.

According to him, the Israeli media also managed to "demonize the resistance, and especially the Islamic Jihad", and diverted the discourse to the fact that it is an arm of Iran in the Gaza Strip in an attempt to "divide the Arab dimension from the Palestinian issue".

The London daily "Al-Arab" emphasized the intention to harm the leadership of Al-Sami Jihad without the involvement of Hamas.

"Israel is targeting senior jihadists without involving Hamas in the campaign," reads the headline of the newspaper's cover.

The newspaper reported that the great distance between the leaders of the Islamic Jihad, who move between Iran, Syria and Lebanon, made it difficult for the Israeli government to achieve the task: activating the mechanism of assassinations.

Against this background, in "Al-Arab" they raised the possibility that the elimination operations "may expand to other regions - chiefly Iran - where Israel managed to penetrate its fences and kill senior Iranian military and scientists in recent times".

The sources emphasized in this context that Israel was tracking several individuals who belong to the Islamic Jihad and live in Gaza and Yosh, but reaching them is a sensitive and difficult operation due to the concentrations of the civilian population.

The Arab world also commented on the speech of the Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad last night. "Ziyad Nachala - the Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad stated that the movement achieved achievements after Israel killed 44 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip including children. The question is asked: "What is the achievement of the Jihad movement besides harassing Israel and causing calamities and sorrow." wrote the Saudi media personality Saud Matalaq al-Ziabi. It is worth mentioning that a significant portion of the deaths were the result of failed launches by the Islamic Jihad.

On the other hand, journalists who are identified with the Iranian axis praised the Islamic Jihad and claimed that it won despite the great losses.

The Palestinian journalist Abd al-Bari Atwan, who supported this position, claimed that the ceasefire freed Hamas from the embarrassment it found itself in in light of the neutral position it had taken.

"Hamas came out of this incomprehensible and unjustified position at the top of the list of losers. It is possible that its losses are greater than the losses of the Israeli enemy in light of the Palestinian Arab and Islamic reactions."

An academic who is affiliated with the Syrian opposition wrote about this: "Far from the articles that always push Gaza to commit suicide - there is a question: "Will Gaza continue to live at the mercy of al-Sisi's (Egyptian president) mediation with the Israelis when senior Hamas officials seek a ceasefire within two days!

Why does Hamas sell its principles to Iran and the criminal Assad."
