An animal rescue operation took place in Weilheim at the weekend: the volunteer fire brigade helped a stork that was stuck between two houses.
Weilheim – The “rescue of a broken pilot” reported Weilheim's volunteer fire brigade at the weekend.
At 9:06 a.m. on Saturday morning, the police alerted the police to an animal rescue.
In the western part of the upper town, a stork got stuck between two house facades.
According to commander Stefan Herbst, the bird had probably stayed there all night in the rain: "It was soaking wet in relatively high undergrowth," reports the commander, attempts to fly had failed.
Fire brigade saves stork in Weilheim – animal is now “properly fed up”
With two comrades, Herbst was able to catch the crash pilot and “pack it up in a big box”.
The police then brought the stork to a private sanctuary in the district.
There, the animal is "first properly nursed back up again," reports the fire brigade - for whom this animal mission was not an isolated case: "I think we've had everything in terms of birds in the past few years," said Herbst when asked by the Tagblatt.
The stork, he was sure yesterday, had "gone into good hands".
