Hikers, runners, bikers?

Oktoberfest legend Manfred Schauer has had enough.

He criticizes the many "English" in the everyday language of the people of Munich.

Munich -

The Bavarian flag dangles lazily from his shoulder - and Manfred Schauer is annoyed.

The man who, as Schichtl, runs an Oktoberfest institution with his cabinet of curiosities, doesn't like to get used to the new everyday language in our city.

In his opinion, there is far too much English, for example when drivers are out and about on their scooters.

In our newspaper, the Schichtl says what other terms make him mad:

“Right now I keep reading about Protected Bike Lanes, a pilot project in the city.

I'm now asking myself: is that city high fidelity for insiders or is it only half as dangerous as a secured cycle path?

And what do I actually do if I only have a bike and no bike?

Above all: I don't know what the installers smoked such word creations, but the stuff was definitely not healthy... In any case, I have a tip.

Ear wash without headphones and at night with a light: it's something protected, you should try it out more often.

Besides cycling, I like doing sports, including long-distance running - and I'm pretty much alone in the city and in the woods among many people who do the same thing but call themselves walkers, hikers or runners.

They only go out on the trail in a functional shirt, with leg warmers, a condition distance timer watch and a power snack.

Anyway, without a mobile phone (a word without origin!) all this is impossible.

Everywhere and inevitably in between the deceased on their power scooters.

The police reported good news, in the first half of 2022, 22 percent of all checked drivers were sober - or something like that.

Cool man!

As an English course for those who are left behind and striving forward, reading the television programs of the private broadcasters could be encouraged.

There are often pictures, and sometimes there are additional texts in local.

I worry about the whereabouts of our mother tongue, which currently seems to be losing its values, words and meaning in a language goulash that is threatening our very existence.

Not that we feel the same way as our Ösi neighbors: They have completely lost the Austrian language and now speak – German!

The language of poets and thinkers, already clearly infiltrated by Anglo-American gibberish, demonstrably brought in by – the Piefkes.

It even goes as far as saying goodbye.

We Bavarians have a different past.

Dialectical and linguistic legacies of French passers-by in uniform around 1812 have become part of our language culture and are still happily pronounced today.

Böfflamott and such... And the French in general!

They speak French, that's all it takes."
