150 Vulnerability: What is the estimate of property damage in the "Dawn" operation? | Israel today

2022-08-08T08:50:25.212Z

The chairman of the Association of Renovation Contractors, Eran Siev, estimates that the damage caused to the property as part of the operation that began this weekend is, surprisingly, extremely small

Operation "Dawn" - the economic damages:

only 15 million shekels - this is the estimated damage of Operation "Dawn" so far, according to the assessment of Eran Siev, chairman of the Renovation Contractors Association.

Siv assessed the damage in the renovations to the property only, without infrastructure and vehicles.

There is no doubt that thanks to the good results of the Iron Dome, we are witnessing relatively little damage.

It should be noted that nearly 150 damage to property was reported.

Immediately after the announcement of the "Dawn" operation, the Tax Authority prepared to respond to citizens in case of escalation and damage to property.

Workers of the compensation fund, in coordination with the security forces, visited the direct hit sites in the Gaza surrounding area throughout the weekend, and provided the necessary initial assistance to citizens whose homes or property were damaged.

The activity to estimate the damage continues even today.

Most of the common damages were caused by the top of a 50 meter radius from the fall of the missile.

Common damages are: broken glass, shutters and aluminum, plaster and paint damage from splinters, frames and doors.

Siv explains that the initial procedure after a missile hit is to call the property tax office to report damage to property.

Usually the property tax sends an appraiser or an engineer immediately to stand the damage.

Property Tax issues a detailed damage report that includes a breakdown of all the damage including photos of the damage and photos of the old renovation standard.

The apartment owner has two options: the first is to bring in a renovation contractor on his behalf and get a price quote that will be approved by the property tax.

After the price quote is approved, the apartment owner can do the work independently and receive the money directly to his private bank from property tax.

The second option, which is usually only used in direct cases, is to get the work done through the property tax companies that will do the work for the client.

The aforementioned companies receive the money directly from property tax and perform all the work.

It is very important to emphasize that without prior approval of the quotations from property tax, the work should not be started.

If we ask retroactively after the work is finished, we will not receive the money from property tax.

Siv explains that the rule is that the owner of the house should receive at least the standard of renovation that he had before the damage, for example if all the walls were smoothed with putty, the repair must also smooth the wall with putty as it was before the damage and not just get paint without putty.

Another example, if the ceramics were 80/80 cm, there is no justification to get 60/60 or 30/30 ceramics, you must get at least 80/80 or 100/100 cm.

Siv points out that in the previous operations, the property tax did its job faithfully and no inquiries or complaints were received in the Renovation Contractors' Association about cheapening and inappropriate behavior of the property tax inspectors and appraisers regarding the renovations.
