A 58-year-old worker died while at work in the "Territorio e Risorse" waste treatment plant in Santhià (Vercelli), owned by the Iren Group.
The man, an employee of an external company, was in the expansion site of the plant where compost is produced starting from organic waste;
according to the first findings, the crane operator was violently hit by a part of the plant he was building.
Taken with the helicopter rescue to the CTO of Turin, he died shortly after arriving at the hospital from a profound head injury.

The accident occurred in the Forsu treatment plant in Santhià and the crane operator, due to the violent impact with a part of the plant, sustained deep injuries to the head and other parts of the body.
