20,000 festival visitors celebrated in Eching for four days: the Brass Wiesn was a huge party.

Eching

– Fun-tastic For four days, up to 20,000 festival visitors celebrated at Eching's largest BrassWiesn in the leisure area.

Cheerful people of all ages enjoyed the huge party together.

Corona, war and the energy crisis were forgotten for the time being.

"Blech" and "Brass" can be found in many band names

The fact that the colorfully mixed music festival on the open-air stage, in the marquee and also in the rustic huts was particularly loud and moody, Bavarian and multicultural, traditional and trendy after the "pandemic forced break" is something that fans of brass bands can tell on, behind and in front of the stages owe.

Some bands and bands have "Blech" and "Brass" demonstratively in their names - above all LaBrassBanda, but also Quetschnblech, Blechsalat, Colors of Brass or the Desperate Brasswives.

Well-known names such as Haindling, Kapelle Josef Menzl, Deschowieder and also the young Fexer are repeat offenders, even "serial offenders" - not only on stage.

The people of Echingen themselves - families, teenagers or even retirees - lined up in large numbers among the visitors.

They thought it was great that it was once again possible to offer a kind of "Bavarian Woodstock of brass music".

Over 1300 resident tickets were sold in advance.

People meet, chat and are happy about how much the guests from near and far like it - and enjoy the adventure holiday at home.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The "trappings" of the folk festival are harmonious and atmospheric: Basic knowledge of lifting beer mugs, finger hooks, nailing or even playing cards in a Bavarian four-way battle was expertly conveyed.

The unusual sessions also included yodelling, folk dance, wind instruments and Goasslschnalzer workshops, the latter open air.

Diversity was also the trump card on the various food and drink menus.

Local forces once again contributed to the success, starting with the musicians of the Echinger brass band and the Sankt Andreas music club, to the fire brigade, BRK and boys' club, which again took over the construction of the tent and then also helped with the celebrations.

The Tafel was represented with a flea market stand

The marquee gastronomy, which was highly praised by everyone, comes from the Fischerhof kitchen.

The voluntary helpers of the Tafel were also represented with a flea market stand.

Among the declared Brass Wiesn friends are the Echingen farmers, who not only lease their land to the organizer, but are also happy to provide old bulldogs and thus actively contribute to the nostalgic charm and the much-praised, cozy atmosphere.

So (almost) everything is brass again at the Echinger Brass Wiesn 2022. ULRIKE WILMS

Serious accident and missing 25-year-old

Of course, one cannot hide the fact that the four great days were overshadowed by a serious hit-and-run accident on the festival site and the mysterious disappearance of a young visitor on Friday evening.

And an open-air of this magnitude naturally also attracts critics (see letter to the editor): too loud, too long, too big, too dirty, too much rubbish - and therefore an environmental sin.

This sums up the criticism, which has been particularly widespread on social media.

This culminates in a citizens' initiative that wants to prevent further festivals of this magnitude.

However, a pro-brass Wiesn faction can also be observed in the well-known networks, from which, above all, tolerance is demanded in view of the four days of spectacle a year: not representative,
