Anthony Modeste's move to Borussia Dortmund is perfect.
As the Bundesliga soccer club announced on Monday, the 34-year-old striker from 1. FC Köln signed a one-year contract following a medical check-up.
The Frenchman is to replace new signing Sébastien Haller at the Revierclub, who is suffering from a tumor and has therefore been missing for months.
Dortmund - BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl described Modeste as "a seasoned professional who knows the Bundesliga very well, who scored 20 goals last season and who, with his profile, can take on exactly the role that our coach Edin Terzic has for BVB -Football presents".
According to reports, the fee for Modeste, who is actually tied to Cologne until 2023, is around five million euros.
With his goals, he played a major role in Cologne's entry into the Conference League last season.
For the beefy attacker, who is strong in the air, it is the second departure from Cologne after 2017, when he caused the displeasure of many fans by moving to China.
This time, too, his departure is accompanied by discord.
"BVB's offer gave me the unique opportunity at my age to also play in the Champions League and prove myself at the highest level," explained Modeste and thanked 1. FC Köln "for the wonderful and successful time “.
