Steinhöring – A 68-year-old from Freising drove in his mobile home on the B304 federal road near Steinhöring in the direction of Munich on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Ebersberg Police Inspectorate, the driver fell asleep before leaving Hohenlindener Straße.
The Freisinger came off the right side of the road: "He damaged the crash barrier and the mobile home threatened to fall into the stream flowing there," according to the police.
The vehicle's engine compartment caught fire.
Even before the Steinhöring volunteer fire brigade could arrive, the police officers present temporarily extinguished the flames.
Total damage around 12,000 euros

The mobile home was no longer roadworthy after the accident, the driver himself was uninjured.
According to police estimates, the damage to the crash barrier and vehicle amounts to around 12,000 euros.
The main road was completely closed for around 2.5 hours for accident recording and rescue.
A total of 30 volunteer fire brigades in Steinhöring and Tulling were deployed.
The Ebersberg Police Inspectorate is asking potential witnesses to the accident to call (0 80 92) 82 68-0 for more information.
