With the aim of keeping pace with scientific developments and their developments in the medical and therapeutic fields and to encourage specialized scientific research, the work of the second molecular pathology conference was launched today at the Cham Hotel in Damascus, which is held by the Excellence and Creativity Authority in cooperation with the Syrian Association of Pathology with the participation and support of 19 ministerial, scientific, research, academic, medical, pharmaceutical, trade union, humanitarian and development bodies.

Participants in the conference, including researchers and specialists inside and outside Syria, will discuss over three days 80 posters and scientific research focusing on several axes, including molecular pathology, medical biotechnology, stem cells, medical nanotechnology, applications of molecular genetics in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and clinical applications in tumors of the breast, lung and respiratory tract. and lymphomas.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Excellence and Creativity Commission, Bassam Ibrahim, stressed in his speech the importance of the conference as a scientific and research event at the local and regional levels, in which elite Syrian competencies who graduated from the Academic Excellence Commission’s programs and are pursuing their higher studies abroad, in addition to a group of Syrian researchers. Those in Russia, the United States of America, Germany, Britain and Romania, with the aim of exchanging experiences and keeping abreast of everything new in medical genetics research, applications of molecular biology, disease diagnosis and biotechnology.

Dr. Muhammad Iyad Al-Shatti, President of the Syrian Association of Pathology and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Excellence and Creativity Commission, noted the participation of the faculties of medicine, pharmacy and dentistry at the University of Damascus, which gave an added value to the conference, in addition to the participation of research bodies and other scientific bodies such as the Higher Commission for Scientific Research, the Atomic Energy Commission, the General Authority for Biotechnology and the Institute The Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, the Medical Associations of Oncology, Thoracic Diseases and Surgery, the Medical Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, University Hospitals and the World Health Organization.

For his part, Dr. Ghassan Fandy, the head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, indicated that many diseases are related to the presence of a mutation, genetic defect, or epigenetic defect that alters the action of a specific protein and affects the life cycle of the cell and its entry into programmed cell death, indicating that the conference is a precise scientific to encourage more research and knowledge in the field of genes and genes And biological chemistry, stressing the union's readiness to provide all the support and assistance required of it.

Engineer Hala Dakkak, head of the Excellence and Creativity Commission, pointed out the importance of the conference as a step to localize the science of biotechnology in research centers and universities, noting that a decision was taken by the Higher Education Council and on the initiative of the Excellence and Creativity Commission to establish a research center for biotherapeutics at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Damascus that includes in its board of directors members from The Excellence and Creativity Commission, the Atomic Energy Commission, the Higher Commission for Scientific Research and the Biotechnology Commission in order to focus attention on biological treatments and work on their production, indicating that the outputs of this conference of research and studies will be transferred to this center in order to launch a set of treatments and the beginning will be for breast and lung tumors.

Dr. Issam Zakaria Al-Amin, Director General of Al-Mouwasat University Hospital in Damascus, indicated that molecular pathology is a new science that represents the medicine of the future, whether in terms of diagnosis, prevention or treatment.
