The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, today (Monday) harshly attacked Israel and claimed that it is "murdering children" in the Gaza Strip, referring to the "Dawn" operation conducted by the IDF against the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization.
Erdogan, who said his words in a speech to the nation that included several topics, said: "There is no justification for murdering children. Turkey stands by the Palestinian people and against the attacks on their sovereignty."
The Turkish president repeated what he had said in the past and claimed that for his country, Al Aqsa Mosque is a "red line" but added that he supports the two-state solution.
These things come against the background of a significant warming in relations between Jerusalem and Ankara in recent months, a warming that even included cooperation in the security field, when Turkey thwarted a series of attacks planned by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards against Israeli targets in the country.
