A full beer tent, well-attended rides: the forest summer that has just come to an end offered visitors shady spots and lots of fun

Geretsried

– When do people like to go to a beer tent or the beer garden that goes with it?

If you are satisfied with the food and service and if you like the music and atmosphere.

The landlord family Fahrenschon fulfilled all these requirements at the forest summer 2022, so that both they and the showmen on Sunday drew a consistently positive balance after the ten days in Geretsried.

The shady beer garden is the big plus of the forest summer.

This is exactly why the Rosenheimer Christian Fahrenschon renamed the Geretsried summer festival with the takeover in 2017.

With high summer temperatures on almost every day, it was bearable under the deciduous trees.

A freshly tapped Tegernseer Helles and a crispy chicken or a fish on a stick - the visitors liked it.

But many also came because of the brass bands.

This was shown by the fact that it was full outside and inside on the three evenings with the Gartenberger bunker brass band.

But also the Harthauser Musi as well as the Ascholdinger and the Königsdorfer chapel had their fans.

On the "Italian Evening", this time with the Pino Barone Band, the guests danced on the tables.

Claudia Fahrenschon reports on numerous reservations in advance.

On the weekends, the bar was boisterous but still disciplined, with celebrations going on until 2 a.m.

Security was on duty, but worked much more discreetly than during the pandemic.

The flexible offer for seniors, many of whom are still afraid of being infected with the virus, has been well received, says the landlady.

As reported, the city had decided that the over 65-year-old citizens could redeem their chicken tokens not only as before on the senior afternoon on Monday, but throughout the week.

That was very relaxed.

It was reasonable that they straightened it out a little in Corona times.

Cultural officer Hans Ketelhut on the decision that seniors could redeem their chicken tokens throughout the week.

Cultural officer Hans Ketelhut, who traditionally set the mood on Monday afternoon as the solo entertainer "Bayern Hans", says that there was not the usual crowd: "It was very relaxed.

It was reasonable that they straightened that out a bit in the Corona times.”

It doesn't matter who you asked from the showmen and specialty sellers: everyone was happy to finally be able to work again, and everyone's tills rang.

The employees of Oswin Schmack, who operated the children's carousel and the shooting range, report on numerous families who, despite the high temperatures, strolled across the square in the afternoon and treated themselves and their children to a little fun.

The evenings went very well anyway.

This is confirmed by Silvana Pfisterer from Auto-Scooter: "People want to get out and meet others".

Sigi Kollmann, owner of the Spickerbude, says that he has known the Geretsrieder Volksfest since childhood.

At the time, his parents owned the “Alpenbahn”, a mini roller coaster.

The 70-year-old remembers that there used to be more going on in Geretsried,

but this year's festival almost goes back to the old days.

"The landlord family does it really well," he praises the Fahrenschons.

However, the war in Ukraine does not leave the fairs untouched.

Whether it's pretzels or a carousel ride: Due to the rise in energy prices, everything has become more expensive.

Kollmann says he rarely got any stuffed animals as prizes for his booth.

Most are made in China.

The delivery difficulties also affect his industry.

Ludwig Trollmann also has to pay more for his fruit and the Belgian praline chocolate that wraps it.

But he doesn't want to pass the price increase on to his customers, he says.

"We want to stay normal.

Everyone should be able to afford our specialties.

Some only come to Geretsried because of her,” he says of some regular customers.

From the point of view of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK), the forest summer of 2022 was quiet and peaceful.

The deputy head of department Kerstin Beier says that she and the other volunteers had to take care of "only a handful of patients" with circulatory problems or wasp stings.

The BRK also ran a lottery stand.

Proceeds go to on-site support.

According to Beier, the sale was “great, that's good for us”.

The quarrel between landlord Christian Fahrenschon and the city from last year has long since been resolved.

Mayor Michael Müller was at the festival almost every day.

Nothing seems to stand in the way of a new edition in 2023.
