Some territories have experienced one or two nights of respite, others have never seen the thermometer drop below 20°C at night.

However, a new heat wave, the fourth since the beginning of the summer, is already settling in France.

This “heat wave episode will be of less intensity than the previous one in the lower Rhône valley and of equivalent strength to the previous one

but a little more lasting in the South-West”, forecasts, this Monday, Météo France.

The public body has thus decided to place four departments on heat wave orange vigilance.

These are the Gironde and the Lot-et-Garonne which join the Gard and the Vaucluse.

“This Monday afternoon, the temperatures are again between 35°C and 37°C in the interior of the Mediterranean regions, locally 38°C in the Cévennes Gard foothills.

They are also on the rise in the South-West departments, with 34°C to 36°C”, observes Météo France.

The heat wave should then spread across much of the country and persist through the weekend.

"This increase will continue on Tuesday in the south-west of the country, leading to placing the Gironde and the Lot-et Garonne in orange vigilance, the maximum temperatures there will frequently reach 36 to 38 ° C", justifies Météo France.

Close to 40°C on Thursday

On Wednesday, temperatures continue to rise reaching 37 to 39 ° C.

The rise will be accentuated on Thursday with another 1 to 2°C.

The lows during the nights of Wednesday to Thursday and Thursday to Friday will be between 18 and 23°C.

The departments which are placed in yellow vigilance are not spared for all that.

The heat is persistent with maximum temperatures which will gradually increase during the week, regularly exceeding 36-37°C from Tuesday on the South but still benefiting from sufficiently cool minimums for the moment.

"In a good part of these departments placed in yellow monitoring, an evolution towards orange monitoring is highly likely by Wednesday or Thursday", anticipates the bulletin of this Monday.

On the south-east of the country, on the other hand, temperatures are starting to drop significantly, especially next night with minimums falling between 16 and 22°C.

"On the other hand, the day of Tuesday promises to be still scorching with 36 to 38 ° C in the Vaucluse and especially in the Gard, which extends the orange heat wave vigilance for an additional day", ends Météo France.
