On Saturday evening, a racing cyclist crossed a seven-lane freeway, putting his life and others in danger.

Schäftlarn – On Saturday, August 6th, a racing cyclist just rode the A 95 near Oberdill near Schäftlarn.

The 52-year-old man from Munich apparently didn't know that there was an underpass 200 meters away.

At around 6:55 p.m., the cyclist wanted to cross the A 95 from east to west and simply lifted his bike over the crash barriers that are installed all along the freeway and crossed the multi-lane freeway.

The crash barriers are even raised at this point and are one meter high.

However, that did not stop the 52-year-old from crossing the road.

Schäftlarn: 52-year-old heaves his racing bike over several crash barriers

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular district Munich newsletter.)

At that time there was very high traffic on the A 95, as the police informed.

The man initially managed to overcome the first four lanes and was now with his bike between the crash barriers of the two directions of travel.

There, the man from Munich and his racing bike had to wait about five minutes because the high volume of traffic made it impossible for him to continue crossing.

But then he managed to heave his racing bike over the next crash barrier and reach the other side.

Schäftlarn: The racing cyclist crosses seven lanes of the Autobahn

The cyclist crossed a total of seven lanes of the A 95 (four times in the direction of Munich and three times in the direction of Garmisch) in the heaviest traffic volume.

He also had to overcome four crash barriers (two of which were raised) and a bicycle, according to the police.

The absurd: there is an underpass about 200 meters from the spot.

This runs under the A 95 and the cyclist could have reached the other side without difficulty and without endangering his life.

Schäftlarn: traffic police determined

The racing cyclist was then checked by a patrol from the Weilheim traffic police on Olympiastraße (state road 2065), which is on the western side of the A 95.

According to the police, the racing cyclist will definitely be fined.

However, if another road user has been endangered by this crossing, criminal charges will be filed.

Anyone who has seen anything can contact the traffic police in Weilheim.
