Don't look for Aubers in tourist guides… This small village of 1,500 inhabitants, 25 km east of Lille (Nord), is not a particularly popular destination.
However, the local campsite (120 pitches) attracts hundreds of tourists every year.
Many come from the surrounding area, with northerners representing 50% to 60% of the clientele.
“We decided a fortnight ago,
says Anthony, 40, a resident of Nœux-les-Mines (Pas-de-Calais), just 20 km away.
We looked at what was in the area and we liked it.
His children particularly appreciate the swimming pool, right in the heart of the campsite.
“There is no point in going far anymore.
There is everything here.
Anyway,
gasoline is more and more expensive
and, in the South, there are too many people.
"It's simple and user-friendly"
Like this boilermaker-welder, many Camp des Roses customers put forward the economic aspect to explain their choice of vacation.
"It's 20 minutes from our house.
There are no
traffic jams
