In Klettham-Nord, the competition for a conversion into a new town center can start.

The key point is the redesign of Friedrichstrasse in the area of the Church of the Redeemer.

Erding

– If politics, citizens and administration pull together, a livable settlement can be developed from a once problematic area in an amazingly short time.

In Erding, this is what Klettham-Nord and its new neighborhood management are all about.

Now it's time for the competition, at the end of which there should be a green, lively district.

The city council decided on the tender and hammered in the first pegs of the planning.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)

The city of Erding receives 60 percent of the costs as a subsidy from the government of Upper Bavaria from the urban development funding program "Social Cohesion".

The Munich office Hummel Kraus coordinates the competition.

The city and district management laid the foundation stone on July 6th with a public information event attended by 35 people from Klettham.

After a walk through the district, a workshop followed.

A week later, the jury met.

Beate Land from Hummel Kraus presented the first results to the city council.

The key point is the redesign of Friedrichstrasse in the area of the Church of the Redeemer.

Lang reported on the frequently expressed desire to green the district significantly more - by planting additional trees.

The stock should be preserved as much as possible.

It is also important to hold back rainwater, especially heavy rain.

On the other hand, a "blue infrastructure" is conceivable, i.e. the integration of water (courses) into the townscape.

The traffic routes, especially Friedrichstrasse, are to be traffic-calmed.

The majority spoke out in favor of car drivers, cyclists and pedestrians coexisting on an equal footing.

That's why there should be a speed limit.

The workshop, Lang reported, was less for fixed playing, football or chess areas and more for an area that can be used alternately.

Tenor: Not everything has to be available at the same time.

The Klettham residents would also like a bookcase.

According to Lang, what is currently still missing is a disability officer who is involved in competition and redesign.

"In any case, the conversions will be barrier-free," announced Lang.

The competition text is now available, assured the planner, who described how to proceed.

The competition is to be announced in August or September.

Right at the beginning of the year, the jury could choose the best designs and then conduct additional negotiations with the senders from February to April.

"The contract could then be awarded in May 2023 - and thus the implementation could start," says Lang.

The city council agreed to start the competition now.

In view of the raised beds and the large chess in the area of the Rot-Weiss Klettham sports field, Hans Egger (Erding Now) asked: "Shouldn't we push ahead with the development there as well?

Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) explained: "That would be the next step." In fact, there are considerations to also connect the new settlement on the strawberry field.
