Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced today (Monday) that the state will compensate any employee who is absent from work due to the operation in the Gaza Strip and lives up to 40 km from the border. "But we decided that it would be 40 km away," Lieberman said at the end of a meeting with the heads of the Sderot, Ashkelon and Gaza Strip authorities in Sderot. "All those who were unable to get to the workplace will receive full compensation.
" How should an operation be conducted?
Both the initiative was ours and the fruitful cooperation with the local authorities allowed us to reach the same achievements," added the minister. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture, the chairman of the Finance Committee and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and other ministries.
According to Lieberman, "The clear and unequivocal results of the operation will allow us a very long period of time to focus on creating economic levers. In a reasonable assessment, this is a different, much calmer reality. And this comes after the quietest year for the region, compared to the last few years that I can remember. We We are succeeding in implementing a correct policy in the Gaza Strip and the region which is among the fastest growing in the State of Israel. We see a large number of people and especially young families coming here in large numbers. Just in the last month another 700 new families moved to the city of Sderot.
