At about 10 am today (8th), when a tram approached the Gooseneck Bridge at Percival Street in Wan Chai, it stopped in the middle of the road due to no electricity. More than 30 trams following it failed to pass.
The staff of the tram company came to the scene to understand that the eastbound service of the tram was blocked.
According to on-site information, the tram involved was originally traveling in the direction of North Point, and the car line extended from the bottom of the Gooseneck Bridge on Percival Street to Shi Zhaoyu Road. About 30 trams were stopped due to no electricity, and the tram staff were repairing at the substation.
Hong Kong Tram responded that tram services were blocked between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and the cause was still under investigation.
Tram service has returned to normal after 10:30.
