The spokesman for the forces of the Luhansk People's Republic, Ivan Filipponenko, announced today that the Ukrainian army has incurred heavy losses in troops and military equipment during the past 24 hours.
"The Luhansk forces managed to eliminate 53 Ukrainian soldiers during armed clashes yesterday, in addition to destroying four armored personnel carriers and seven special military vehicles," the Russian TASS news agency quoted Filipponenko as saying.
"Yesterday, field engineers in Lugansk cleared more than five hectares in the Smolyaninovo and Shepilovka regions of explosives and mines planted by Ukrainian forces," Filipponenko added.
