Mansour: Continuing silence about the crimes of the occupation has become a license to kill

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Ambassador Riyad Mansour, affirmed that the continuation of the international silence regarding the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people under various pretexts has become a “murder license” that must be revoked.

Mansour said in his speech during the special session held by the UN Security Council to discuss the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip today: “How many times will Israel justify the bombing of our people in Gaza.. and how many years will it impose its inhumane siege on two million people, half of them are children? We will be buried until someone says enough is enough.”

Mansour explained that while the occupation forces were bombing Gaza, the extremist settlers were storming again the Haram al-Sharif and violating the current historical situation there.

Mansour stressed the need for the international community to provide protection to the Palestinian people and their children, fifteen of whom were martyred within a few days during the last aggression, while others were injured, wondering: “Is the lives of civilians and Palestinian children less important than others… Are they in some way an exception to every rule that does not apply to them? The Charter of the United Nations and international law .. Or is the identity of the aggressor sufficient to justify his comprehensive immunity and the lack of protection for the victims?

Mansour referred to what UN Secretary-General António Guterres mentioned in his report on children, where he said: “I was shocked by the number of children killed and maimed by Israeli forces during the hostilities and in air strikes on densely populated areas and the use of live ammunition.”

 Mansour had confirmed earlier today, through three identical messages he sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council and the President of the United Nations General Assembly regarding the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, that the repetition of the Israeli aggression is only the result of its policy of impunity. (Israel) is the occupying power, and the international community, especially the Security Council, must carry out its duties to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people, stop the aggression, and achieve accountability for all these crimes.

The Israeli aggression on the besieged sector resulted in the death of 46 Palestinians, including 15 children, and the wounding of nearly 400 people.
