An elderly owner who lived in an old building on Wong Chuk Street for many years told Ning Hanhao that the building had no elevator and had to go up and down seven floors a day. Although the building had participated in the URA's "Demand-led Redevelopment Pilot Project", it owed only one The owner agreed, so that 80% of the property rights could not be collected, so the acquisition plan was forced to terminate.
Another owner of an old building living on Nam Cheong Street also expressed support for redevelopment, but the building owner has so far failed to reach a consensus and had to renovate his residence by himself.
Ning Hanhao also visited a fourth-generation operator who ran a soy shop in the local area, and learned that the other party had doubts about the acquisition because he was worried that the store could not be relocated in the same area.
Later, Ning Hanhao held an exchange meeting with a number of Kowloon West District councillors to exchange views on the foreclosure threshold and redevelopment issues.
Ning pointed out that in order to cope with the rapid aging of buildings, in addition to the promotion work of the URA, private market forces are also required to speed up urban renewal. Different thresholds for forced auctions have been established for aged buildings, how to allow owners to obtain professional support on legal and valuation issues, and to explore whether there is room to streamline the current legal procedures for forced auction cases.
