35 young plastic artists participated in the art exhibition within the activities of the Fine Art Festival 2, which is organized by the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture of Damascus, at the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.
The exhibition included 43 paintings whose themes varied between nature, silent nature, lettering and portraiture, with styles ranging from realism, expressionism, and abstraction, to various sizes and different artistic levels, according to the age groups and the experience of each of the participating artists.
Concerning the exhibition, the plastic artist Ghassan Ghanem, Secretary of the Syrian Plastic Artists Union, said in a statement to SANA: The exhibition included different models of his paintings in terms of topics and styles, reflecting multiple levels of participants, and this counts for the association that supports young talents and offers them the opportunity to present their productions to the public.
In turn, plastic artist Rabab Ahmed, cultural director of Abu Rummaneh, explained that the House of Arabic Calligraphy and Arts Association is active and active within the center’s agenda throughout all months of the year with its events and activities, whether in exhibitions or free workshops in Arabic calligraphy and plastic art and cultural lectures that aim to spread aesthetic culture in the society.
For her part, plastic artist Reem Kabtan, chairperson of the association’s board of directors, said, “A number of the association’s artists participated in this exhibition, along with young artists and artists, with the aim of supporting and encouraging them for more artistic endeavor,” noting that the festival was the culmination of hard work by the association’s professors and artists during two years to create a reality. A new and contemporary artistic cultural based on the roots of originality and the cultural heritage of the Syrian artist and supporting the new generation of art students and amateur artists to prove their artistic identity.
The plastic artist, Nasa Abed, participated in a painting about nature in a simplified manner, through which she conveyed a sense of calm and serenity, as she put it, using oil colors in hot colors, with an emphasis on the power of shadow and light.
The artist Siham Muhaisin pointed out that her participation in the exhibition came in her desire to have a fine artistic effect that attracts art lovers in all its schools and forms as amateurs and professionals united by a love of art, indicating that she presented a portrait executed using the oil color technique from the realistic school of a girl characterized by her determination to achieve her wishes.
As for the artist, Bushra Mardini, she presented a painting in which she embodied nature in the countryside in an impressionist style and using acrylic technique on canvas.
The artist, Abeer Al-Awdat, painted a painting about old Damascus, in which she expressed her love for Damascus with the affection and love for the place in all its details, while the participation of the artist, Hala Dawalibi, in a portrait that represented the woman and her troubles from life, with her keenness to pay attention to her femininity and beauty.
The week during which the exhibition will continue will include a cultural seminar by the plastic artist, Captain Omar Ramadan, and two interactive workshops, under the supervision of the artists Reem Qabtan and Nasa Abed.
The festival concludes its activities next Sunday with the Painting and Arts Forum with the participation of children aged 8 to 12 years and lasts for three days and ends with the presentation of the children’s achievements during the forum in the garden of the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh.
