A residential fire broke out in Tuen Mun.
At about 1:58 a.m. today (9th), a high-rise unit in the Siu Wing Building of Siu Hong Court caught fire. The fire was violent and thick with smoke. A large number of residents were alerted to report for help. Some people were trapped in the unit and could not escape.
The firefighters arrived to set up a temporary command station, and used a hose and a team of smoke caps to put out the fire, and put the fire out at 2:44 in the morning.
During the fire, 2 men and 3 women inhaled thick smoke and felt unwell. They were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, they were all awake. Nearly 100 residents were evacuated to a safe place for temporary shelter. Among them, some children were barefoot and were carried by their parents and fell off the building. Safe.

Police said the injured included a couple surnamed Chen and Ye (the same 70 years old), an elderly woman surnamed Lin (86 years old), a man surnamed Lei (41 years old) and a man surnamed He (40 years old). They all inhaled the smoke and became unwell, and were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment. At least 55 males and 25 females were evacuated.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
