South Korea recorded more than 100,000 new cases of the Corona virus during the past 24 hours, for the sixth consecutive day.

And the South Korean Yonhap Agency quoted the Korean Agency for Disease Control and Prevention as saying in a statement that the number of new cases of the virus exceeded 100,000, amid the spread of a highly contagious strain of the mutated strain Omicron, and the increased movement of citizens due to the easing of social distancing restrictions and the summer vacation.

The statement added that 27 deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, down from 45 deaths recorded yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths to 25,263 cases.

South Korea, with a population of 51.6 million, reached the 20 million mark of coronavirus infections last Wednesday, two and a half years after it reported its first case on January 20, 2020.
