The war over the agricultural areas: the land battle between Kfar Saba and South Sharon is expanding Israel today

2022-08-08T20:43:37.600Z

Kfar Saba asks the Ministry of the Interior to expand its mandate on additional lands of the regional council, including the new industrial zone • "They are trying to stop the development of the city at the expense of the residents"

The Kfar Saba municipality is asking the Ministry of the Interior to expand its mandate to five different complexes in the South Sharon Regional Council - a move that raises the ire of the head of the regional council, Osherat Gani Gonen.

We will remind you that as was written in detail in "Israel Hayom", Kfar Saba and South Sharon are fighting each other over the establishment of a new neighborhood for young people at the expense of the agricultural areas of Moshav Tzufit.

Among other things, the mayor of Kfar Saba, Rafi Sa'ar, wants to take over the first and only industrial zone promoted by the South Sharon Regional Council, which should be an economic anchor for it.

The South Sharon Regional Council did not like the request.

"Rafi Sa'ar claims before the Ministry of the Interior once that the economic situation of the city is unsatisfactory and the second time he claims in the discussion of objections that the situation is good and stable. The question is which of his claims to believe," they responded.

"Working for sane prices"

"As part of the application, the Tsovit complex, which includes office towers with a height of 28 floors, is also included.

It seems that the mayor of Kfar Saba has chosen an imperialist approach and is adapting the reasons to the goal: to eliminate the agricultural seats and the only green lungs in the area for this construction, and on the way to take the only employment and industrial areas of his neighbors.

The South Sharon Regional Council will protect its settlements, agricultural lands and open spaces for our sake and for the sake of future generations from these evil intentions."

The Kfar Saba municipality stated: "For years, a small and elitist group has been enjoying benefits and large areas without hindrance - and now they are trying to stop the development of Kfar Saba at the expense of the young couples, single-parent families, soldiers and students who live in Kfar Saba.

"This is about to change. We are working to lower the price of apartments in the city and increase the supply in Kfar Saba, for the residents who live in unbearable density. The young people of Kfar Saba and the families of the city will get an apartment at a reasonable price."
