Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Administration Kirill Strimosov announced that the Ukrainian forces launched a new missile attack with US-made HIMARs missiles on the Antonovsky bridge across the Dnieper River in Kherson.
Russia Today website quoted Strimosov as saying, "Last night, there was a missile attack on the Antonovsky Bridge, which led to a fire in one of the neighboring buildings and the concrete mixer," noting that no major damage occurred, nor were the bridge bearing elements damaged.
Strimosov pointed out that what reduced the damage was the interception of most of the missiles by the air defense system, stressing that the authorities would restore the bridge and traffic.
At the end of last July, the Antonovsky bridge was attacked by Ukrainian forces, as traffic was blocked due to the damage to the bridge, while the repair was scheduled to be completed this week.
The Russian military has set up a floating ferry to transport people and vehicles across the river until the bridge is repaired.
