Expected Sunday in Lebanon, the first ship loaded with cereals exported by Ukraine did not dock as planned and its new destination

But where is the Razoni going?

The ship carrying the first grain shipment exported by Ukraine since the Russian invasion on February 24 did not dock in Lebanon on Sunday as planned.

After three days of navigation since its stopover in Istanbul for an inspection, the boat loaded with some 26,500 tons of Ukrainian corn, flying the flag of Sierra Leone, suddenly changed its route plan, as reported by Les Échos.

“Its owner informed me that he was no longer going to the port of Tripoli,” Ahmad Tamer, the director of the port of the big city in northern Lebanon, told the newspaper on Saturday evening.

The ship is now anchored off the Turkish coast, at the entrance to the Gulf of Alexandretta.

Asked about the reasons for this postponement, the embassy told AFP that it had "no other information" at the moment.

According to an official source familiar with the matter, the ship will probably not dock in Lebanon if it manages to sell its cargo to a merchant in another country.

A delivery to Syria would be envisaged according to several sources, advance for its part RTL.

Three new convoys

If its new destination remains unclear, the Ukrainian embassy in Beirut was in any case taken aback, still according to Les Echos.

The delegation had invited the press to attend the arrival of the boat, initially expected on Sunday.

She was pleased that this Ukrainian wheat would "help alleviate the food crisis currently experienced by Lebanon".

This cargo was the first authorized under the agreement concluded on July 22 in Istanbul between Russia and Ukraine via mediation by Turkey and under the aegis of the United Nations.

This agreement aims to make possible the export of Ukrainian cereals blocked by the war and that of Russian agricultural products despite Western sanctions, to alleviate the world food crisis and the rise in prices in some of the poorest countries.

On Friday, three new shipments of corn left Ukraine in a convoy, the Turkish Defense Ministry said.

The three buildings will serve Ireland, England and Turkey, according to the same source.
