The rescue operation was dramatic: When the Gräfelfingen fire brigade approached an apartment fire in an apartment building on Sudetenstrasse at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, a desperate woman was standing on the fourth floor balcony, surrounded by thick clouds of smoke.
Graefelfing
- Before the crew of the turntable ladder cage could reach the 51-year-old, the woman lost consciousness.
The emergency services pulled her into the basket as quickly as possible - and only seconds later the balcony was also on fire.
The person who was slightly injured due to the smoke was immediately treated by the emergency services and taken to a hospital.
The apartment door, which had burned through, was met by the respiratory protection team, which was attacking in parallel via the stairwell, on arrival.
The fire was pushed back with a C-pipe and it was prevented from spreading to other apartments.
The burning roof was partially opened to fight the fire.
The fire was out by 7:34 p.m.
A total of around 120 emergency services were on site for up to four and a half hours.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown, fire investigators are investigating.
