A kind of family festival with a live link to Langeoog - that's what the annual meeting of the Traubing volunteer fire brigade offered.
But there have also been promotions and flashbacks.
Traubing
– The people of Traubing can pin this on their lapels as a unique selling point: When the members of the volunteer fire brigade come together for the annual meeting, like at the weekend, it is reminiscent of a convivial family celebration.
First there is food.
Two hours later, during a meeting break, there's a second helping of cake and ice cream.
The agenda is not limited to sober facts and figures.
Above all, the chairman of the fire brigade association provides the entertaining highlights.
Peter Scheifele spiced up his remarks with humorous marginal notes, which elicited smiles, laughter and clapping from the participants.
Son Simon is not inferior to his father when it comes to entertainment.
The highly acclaimed treasurer also understands digital technology.
Using a whiteboard, he made graphics and images from the annual report visible.
He had also established a virtual connection with the youth warden of the fire brigade, Martin Wild, who is currently enjoying his vacation on the island of Langeoog.
Wild reported that the 2021 youth group had shrunk from six to three due to one exit and two departures to the active force.
In the meantime there have been five additions.
In addition, Simon Scheifele had switched on the commander of the Tutzinger Wehr, Christoph Knobloch, who greeted him from his vacation spot in southern climes.
Association contributes to procurement
Scheifele had rummaged through the fire brigade and local chronicles for his board report.
With the comment "history repeats itself" he recalled the galloping prices from 1922, the beginning of inflation as a late consequence of the First World War.
Two years later, the general meeting of the Traubinger fire brigade could not take place because of the complete devaluation of the currency.
That was exactly 100 years ago.
Scheifele's consolation: "Inflation comes and goes again." In the direction of the community representatives around Mayor Marlene Greinwald, he ended his remarks with the advice: "Invest in the fire brigade and their equipment as long as money is still worth something."
A larger purchase is the replacement for the portable pump trailer, built in 1961. It is to be a portable pump vehicle, the procurement of which is planned for 2024.
The fire brigade association will contribute to this.
The special reserve for such investments grew to almost 16,000 euros last year.
At the end of 2021, the association's assets amounted to a good 32,000 euros.
Speaking of facts and figures: the number of members has shrunk slightly from 241 to 236. "No longer a maximum number, so there is still room for improvement," said Treasurer Scheifele.
The 35 activists had 53 missions with 964 man-hours last year.
Only 2010 was higher with 62 missions in this millennium.
There were also 54 practice evenings with 672.5 hours.
Always on duty after a storm

There were also twelve alarms for the Traubinger after traffic accidents, six fire and smoke incidents and five operations due to oil traces.
Stefan Lechner received a certificate as the new chief firefighter.
The first fire chief of the Traubinger fire brigade is Veronika Bell.
Florian Lechner was honored for 20 years of membership.
The mayor expressed her thanks from the municipality for the services and the "excellent cooperation".
She described the firefighters as “role models for society”.
