"Let Live Live" received reports of dogs being set on fire in recent days in the settlements of the Triangle • The association reports an increase in the number of abuses throughout the country, and in the Arab sector in particular • Executive Director Etti Altman: "Everyone is busy with elections, the animals do not choose and therefore no one cares in them" • The Israel Police: "An investigation has been opened on the matter with the aim of finding the truth"

A new phenomenon in the settlements of the triangle: the association "Let Live Live" received several reports in recent days about dogs being set on fire in Teiba and Tira, a complaint was filed with the police and an investigation was opened.

Also, a few weeks ago, a shocking indictment was filed for abusing dogs and porcupines in Taiba.

In the last few days, a number of complaints have come to the "Let Live Live" association, in the last few nights more and more howls of the animals, howls of pain and suffering, have been heard.

One of the activists of the association in the area tried to follow the cries and complaints and discovered that it was a phenomenon of dogs being set on fire.

The association links the current increase to the boredom of the youth and says that this is a dramatic increase in the abuse of animals throughout the country, and in particular in the Arab sector.

According to the CEO of the association Etti Altman, in the Arab sector there is less awareness and education about the care of animals and in Bedouin and other Arab communities complaints about animal abuse are received every day.

"Unfortunately, in Arab society there is less awareness, especially among the youth, and there is no education for the animals," says Altman, adding that "in specific localities, the veterinary department is understaffed due to part-time jobs and a lack of budget, there are no corrals and proper facilities, sometimes in these departments people turn to us for help."

"There is nothing to be surprised about. The state is not functioning properly. Everyone is busy with the elections, the animals are helpless, they have no mouth and no way to vote at the ballot box, so they are of no interest to anyone. Neither the police nor the government," added Altman, referring to the plight of Arab society "There is almost daily evidence in Arab society of animal abuse. For me, this is literally a holocaust that the animals are going through. The chance that an animal will enter certain areas of the country and leave alive is low. This is due to a lack of awareness, a lack of education on the subject, alternatives in the specific ministries, we tried to do some lessons in schools, but we can't do it alone, we need deep plowing on the issue, but right now the animals are helpless."

A serious indictment: a Taiba resident abused dogs, porcupines and rabbits

Meanwhile, the police are aware of the existing phenomenon and are fighting it.

A complaint was filed at the police station in Tira regarding the phenomenon that started in the last few days and the police started an investigation.

A few weeks ago, a serious indictment was filed against the 25-year-old resident of Taiba Saner bin Shaher Medina, who kept dogs and trained them to hunt porcupines and thus brutally abused the dogs and porcupines.

The indictment filed against Madinah had 25 counts of animal abuse and poaching of a protected wild animal, after an investigation by Taiba station police officers.

For example, Medina buried a dog while it was still alive, in addition he ordered the dogs to hunt porcupines and thus the porcupines were killed and the dogs were injured in their mouths by the thorns of the porcupines.

Medina even tied four dogs to two trees and held a rabbit between them and the dogs went wild, hurt and barked at the rabbit who, according to the indictment, was mentally damaged in the same incident.
