"My childhood icon, my heroine": the stars of Israel are close to Olivia Newton John | Israel today

The news of the death of the actress Olivia Newton John last night (Monday) struck many of the star's fans in Israel and around the world with sadness.

Israeli celebrities joined the eulogies, and flooded the social network with tribute posts and videos, in which they expressed their love and appreciation for the woman whose successful songs became the soundtrack of the lives of so many around the world, when the film "Grease" in which she starred with John Travolta in the early 1970s, conquered stormed the hearts of the masses and gave her world fame.

"Sad, captured my heart. The woman everyone wanted to be like for a minute and a half. I won," wrote Maayan Adam when she remembered the dance she danced to the sounds from the movie "Grease", as part of her participation in "Dancing with the Stars".

"How many times have you wanted to be Sandy? How many times to wear tight black pants and high heels and a shirt that falls over the shoulder? Sandy, Olivia Newton John is dead, but Sandy is a part of the youth of quite a few generations, and this is a significant and above all happy achievement," added the actress Hali Goldenberg.

"A singer we've heard at home for so long, and it's crazy. What an amazing singer she was, what a beautiful girl she was," stand-up comedian Nikki Goldstein eulogized her.

"My childhood icon", stylist Sandra Ringler thought and attached a photo of Olivia in her youth.

"My heroine," actress Essie Levy declared in a post she dedicated especially for Newton John.

"Grease forever", the news presenter Maggie Tabibi wrote succinctly.

Leah Griner chose to do a lip sync tribute to the song "Hopelessly devoted to you", and wrote "Olivia Newton John has become a terrible angel. I love you".

Maya Busquila, who received the news of Newton John's death while she was in a restaurant, was recorded on video saying: "Olivia Newton John passed away, I'm sad" and immediately afterwards sang in her honor.

John Travolta, who starred alongside Olivia in the cult film "Grease," also paid tribute to her on social media: "Dear Olivia, you made our lives better. Your influence was amazing. I love you so much. See you down the road, and we'll be together again Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever, your Danny, your John."
