Things are going well in the ski department of TSV Benediktbeuern-Bichl.

The mountain bike segment in particular is booming.

There is only one problem: the department management needs a successor.

Benediktbeuern – When it comes to sporting success alone, the skiing department at TSV Benediktbeuern-Bichl is by far the most successful.

And it is above all their mountain bike (MTB) division that spreads Beurer's reputation, at least throughout Europe.

With Paula Weigelt (U15) and Carla Hahn (U17), two youth German and European champions cycle here in the club, and Jakob Duckeck recently won the Bavarian runners-up championship title in the U19 class.

Most recently, Andrea Krawanja also won the title of Bavarian Champion for women.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

64 children are active in the mountain bike section

Otherwise, things are going pretty well in the department at the moment, as the reports at the annual meeting showed.

“Last year we were able to host two mega events with a very complex hygiene concept.

The Benediktbeurer MTB uphill race was the only event far and wide that was really good.

And at the Kirtalauf 2021 we reached a record number of 172 participants," said Marcus Klingler, head of department.

"We have an endless stream of people," confirmed MTB spade leader Stephan Kueß and explained that a freeze on admissions had to be imposed at the moment.

A total of 64 children are regularly cared for by 16 trainers.

Things are looking good again this year for the "Wurz Cup".

Things are also looking good again this year for our own MTB race for the “Wurz Cup”.

In the past, the problems in terms of approval with the forest and the nature conservation authority at the district office could be cleared up.

In terms of finances, the head of department described the implementation of the ski bazaar and the stand at the Christmas market as "necessary for survival".

Both events had been canceled in the past two years as a result of the corona pandemic.

It was an “almost normal season” for the Alpine skiers

The sports wardens Marcus Hofmann (Nordic) and Martin Schillinger (Alpine) were then able to report on growth, both in the active offspring and in the number of trained trainers.

While the cross-country skiers were already suffering from the lack of snow, there were hardly any training opportunities on site, the alpine skiers had resumed their regular training trips to Christlum, "so an almost completely normal ski season".

They are also planning to set up a ski course for little ones again for the winter.

Department head and his deputy want to stop - no successor in sight

"It's impressive how well the department is doing," said Mayor Toni Ortlieb happily in his welcoming address.

He emphasized that it is becoming increasingly difficult to get people interested in volunteering.

Klingler also had to experience this when looking for a successor.

After twelve years, he and his deputy Thomas Braun no longer want to run in the upcoming elections for department leadership next year.

But so far his search for potential successors has been pretty fruitless.

The head of department urgently appealed to all members to give serious thought to who could continue the division from the coming year.
