Sen. Nisso Guetta, who was convicted of assaulting a protester and a photographer at the Balfour protests, received a light sentence:
5 months of suspended imprisonment for three years for each crime of violence.
Judge Einat Ron said: "This is about the defendant who is a senior officer in the Israel Police and was in his position. The defendant resorted to violence against the two complainants, who did not resort to violence towards him. This is a violation of every principle of a citizen to demonstrate. By virtue of his position, he is expected to behave appropriately."
She also added that "the accused failed. Despite his many rights, this does not lead to the cancellation of the conviction. Considering the stormy events and the fact that no damage was caused in the end - I sentence him to five months of probation."

Guetta was recorded by protesters hitting a protester and a journalist at one of the demonstrations in Balfour against then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The police investigation department opened an investigation against Guetta and subsequently filed an indictment against him at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court.
He was charged with two counts of simple assault.
In June of this year, Judge Einat Ron convicted him of both offenses when she rejected the defense's claim that Guetta was attacked by the protester and the photographer and used reasonable force to stop them.
