A 70-year-old pedestrian was killed tonight (Wednesday) after he was hit by a bus that lost control, collided with a guardrail and was stopped at a construction site on Jeremiah Street in Jerusalem.

The MDA team that was called to the scene performed CPR in the end and had to pronounce him dead. The bus driver, about 40 years old, was seriously injured and was rescued from the bus by the teams while he was unconscious. Another person was slightly injured. The police were also called to the scene and began investigating the circumstances of the accident.

MDA paramedic Israel Weingarten who was called to the scene said: "This is a serious accident, we saw a bus empty of passengers crushed in its front part after it collided with the entrance to a building at a construction site.

A pedestrian about 70 years old who was walking on the sidewalk was hit by the bus, he was lying on the sidewalk unconscious, with multiple systemic injuries, we gave him medical treatment and performed CPR, in the end we had to pronounce him dead.

The driver of the bus, a man about 40 years old, was trapped in the driver's seat while he was unconscious with injuries to his stomach and limbs, while extricating him from the bus we gave him life-saving medical treatment and after the firefighters finished the rescue, we evacuated him to the hospital as he was in serious condition."
