The disqualification comes after Netanyahu's appeal, and following a ruling by the Likud's court that Niado can compete.

His uncle Laniado, the Likud candidate who was previously convicted of assault and housebreaking, was disqualified by the Tel Aviv District Court - and will not be able to compete in the upcoming primaries.

As you may remember, yesterday (Monday) the Likud's court ruled that Lenaido could run, and wrote: "We have come to the conclusion that we cannot but interfere in the election committee's decision, and we state that there is a legal impediment to disqualifying a candidate because of convictions for which the statute of limitations has passed.

"However, the court calls on the appellant to examine and consider the consequences of his candidacy, in light of his statement before us, that if he is convinced that his candidacy harms the good of the movement, he will do the right thing on his own initiative."

Following this, Netanyahu filed an appeal against the decision, saying: "I agree with the judge that Laniado should be disqualified and call on the Likud officials to vote for other candidates who are worthy, and whose election will not cause unnecessary damage to the Likud."

I call on the Likud officials not to vote for Dudu Laniado and also to vote for other and worthy candidates whose election will not cause unnecessary damage to the Likud.

Last Thursday, the election committee of the Likud party rejected Laniado's candidacy.

On behalf of Dor Haralf, who submitted the petition against Laniado's candidacy, it was stated: "The Likud movement led by Netanyahu is the party that must lead the State of Israel forward.

We must present to the public a good and excellent list in the elections that will be held in November." Now, as mentioned, this is a disqualification by the court, which is official.

The great democratic celebration

Tomorrow, 140,000 Likud officials will participate in the great democratic celebration: the primaries for the party list for the 25th Knesset, which will be held at 110 voting sites throughout the country - at the end of long weeks of campaigns and preparations, tricks and tricks.

The success in the primaries is divided between public recognition and strength among the independents, in cooperation with deals between vote contractors.

A combination of the two gives candidates a high place on the list.

Among the MKs who worked hard in the Knesset last year and are trying to improve their position are Yoav Kish, Shlomo Karai and Ofir Katz. The latter worked hard in the Knesset committees, and now he is fighting to enter the Knesset once more.

One of the biggest dramas in the primaries is the running of Danny Danon, formerly Israel's ambassador to the United Nations. If he succeeds, it will be the first time in the history of the Likud that a candidate, who was not part of the faction for a long time, returns to the list.

During the night the votes will be counted, and the results are expected to be published the day after tomorrow (Thursday).
