The AP news agency announced tonight (Tuesday) that its tests confirm the Israeli assessment that close to a third of the Palestinians killed in the "Dawn" operation were apparently killed by jihadist rocket fire that deviated from their trajectory.

According to the Israeli estimate, 47 Palestinians were killed during the operation, including at least 14 unsuccessful shots by the Islamic Jihad.

The AP said that live television footage showed the group's rockets landing in densely populated residential areas.

The agency also added that visits by its personnel to two explosion sites that killed 12 people supported the suspicion that their deaths were caused by rockets falling inside the Gaza Strip.

AP's publication comes amid accusations leveled by the Palestinians in Israel that the IDF attacked the refugee camp in Jabaliya and caused the death of children. On the other hand, IDF officials rejected the claims and said that the cause of the explosion was a failed rocket launch.

The AP added that if it turns out that the Islamic Jihad has harmed the people it claims to protect, this will lead to a humiliating result for the organization and for its sponsor, Iran.

However, in the AP it was emphasized that despite Israel's claims that the attacks were aimed only at armed men with maximum effort not to harm civilians, in one of them, in which a senior Islamic Jihad commander was killed in Rafah, five civilians were also killed.

The AP agency is an American news agency that has employees in various places around the world, including in Gaza.

About a year ago, during the "Wall Guard" operation, the IDF attacked a building where the news agency was also located. According to military officials, "the building housed the research and development unit of the Hamas military intelligence which was responsible, among other things, for a number of sabotage operations carried out against the State of Israel." However, the attack on the building was portrayed as a violation of freedom of expression and a direct threat to journalists covering the "Wall Guard" operation.
