The executive has asked GazelEnergie to relaunch its Saint-Avold plant, in Moselle, for six months (from October 2022 to March 2023).

The shutdown of the last coal-fired power plants in France by 2022 was enshrined in law in 2019, in order to reduce CO2 emissions.

Coal is, by far, the energy that emits the most greenhouse gases before fuel oil and gas.
