Cats are carnivores.

Nevertheless, they need a varied diet.

But do eggs work?

After all, they are animal in nature, right?

Meat, tuna and milk: Many people are convinced that these are cats' favorite foods.

The fact is that velvet paws are carnivores and therefore meat eaters.

In contrast to dogs, they are very strict about this, which means that their food must consist of at least 90 percent animal proteins.

Can cats eat eggs?

Their ability to get energy from carbohydrate sources such as grains, potatoes or rice is therefore inherently limited.

Instead, they are able to convert the protein in the meat into glucose.

The body needs this as an energy supplier in order to be able to carry out vital metabolic processes.

It is better not to feed kittens eggs, as their digestive tract is still very sensitive.

For this reason, cats have adapted to being able to digest large amounts of protein.

But cats also like a varied diet.

However, while they don't look at fruit and vegetables, it's a different story with eggs.

But do house cats tolerate them at all?

Egg yolk is considered very nutritious

What should be clear: Basically, you should not give your pets, especially cats, raw eggs to eat.

The risk is just too great that they are contaminated with salmonella.

An infection can cause symptoms in cats, such as diarrhea, vomiting or fever.

But if you absolutely want to feed your house tiger raw eggs, you should make sure that they are still fresh.

It is also advisable to separate the egg white from the yolk.

You can give the latter to your cat, as the yolk has a very high vitamin and nutrient content.

However, the egg white contains a protein that can lead to disturbances in the fat metabolism.

If you boil eggs, however, the danger is low.

The same applies to egg dishes such as scrambled or fried eggs.

However, make sure that the food is well cooked and unseasoned.

Can cats eat eggs?

One egg per week, please

Basically, eggs should only end up on the cat's diet rarely and in small quantities.

After all, they not only have a high fat content, but also a lot of calories.

This is especially true for indoor cats that get little exercise.

One egg a week is perfectly adequate.

However, you should not give eggs to kittens and older velvet paws.

They have a very sensitive digestive system and are better off avoiding it altogether.
