The national list in Likud has 28 places that are considered realistic. The incumbent members of the Knesset, 28 in number, can run for them. With Yuval Steinitz's retirement announcement, the number of candidates dropped to 27, so apparently - everyone has a place on the next Likud list. But only apparently.
Fighting for the real places
The districts, the armored ones, and the slot reserved for a new woman:
several strong candidates are also competing for a place on the national list, and may push out of the Knesset sitting MKs who will not fit into the next list in a realistic place. The candidates who are considered the strongest among those who are not MKs are the editor of Israel Hayom former Boaz Bismuth, and former Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon.
According to the Likud election system, in order to ensure the refreshing of the list and the introduction of new forces into the Knesset - the list consists of a series of placements intended for representatives of districts and sectors, to which former Knesset members cannot be screwed, but only new candidates.
The choice is made by the officials of the movement, where each official can choose only the representative of the district in which he lives.
Another slot intended for inserting a new name is the slot for a new wife.
That is, a woman who was not a member of the Knesset on behalf of the party.
Attorney Tali Gottlieb, ultra-Orthodox activist Leli Deri, veteran activist Mati Yogev and another veteran activist, Heidi Mozes, are competing for the position. At least one of them will get on the list.
But this is not the only problem of the candidates on the national list.
According to the Likud constitution, the movement's chairman Binyamin Netanyahu can reserve candidates on his behalf in the 14th, 16th and 28th places on the list, which will further push back all those who come after.
As part of Netanyahu's armory: Amichai Shekeli and Idit Silman, who are not new MKs - but they will be new to Likud. This is a sign of appreciation for helping to overthrow the current government and bringing about the elections.

Deals, gentlemen, deals
The people of the field raise their heads:
when Yair Lapid, Benny Gantz, Gideon Sa'ar and others founded their parties, and were asked why they did not introduce democratic elements into the party's constitution such as primaries, they justified it by saying that it was a "corrupt system", because of the "deals" that serve as an integral part from her.
In the past, when the elections for the composition of the Likud list were held among the members of the center, which numbered about 3,000 people, the deals were a very strong component in the selection of the list, but once the selection was passed on to the approximately 140,000 functionaries - it is very difficult to weave strong and comprehensive deals and determine the composition of the list based on them.
The strongest candidates in Dili are Haim Katz, who was chairman of the workers' committee of the Aerospace Industry, and Israel Katz, who is considered the "king of the field" in Likud. Other candidates who have influence over thousands of functionaries and dozens of other local activists are Tzachi Hanegbi, who is supported by several powerful activists, David Bitan, Gila Gamliel, Miki Zohar and Miri Regev.

alongside the many deals, lists of recommendations and eliminations that are passed from hand to hand among the leaders of the influential groups and the main activists, there are quite a few candidates who cast their gold precisely on the independent popular vote of the wisdom of the masses and the independent functionaries, who do not owe their membership in the party to anyone, And are not found in any partisan pressure group out of the dozens that exist.
The strongest candidates in the popular vote are Nir Barkat, Eli Cohen, Yariv Levin, Yuli Edelstein, Yoav Galant and Ofir Akunis.
Amir Ohana, Avi Dichter and Galit Distel Atbarian can also be added to this list, which is mainly based on her personal popularity.
Also on the list, although they are indeed connected to strong deals, but not at a level that can promote their candidacy on the list to a satisfactory level for them: Dodi Amsalem, Gila Gamaliel, Tzachi Hanegbi, Miki Zohar, Israel Katz, Orli Levy and Miri Regev.

Incumbent members of the Knesset are swinging:
due to the great crowding in the national list, some incumbent members of the Knesset may not return to see the legislature from the inside.
Among the swing candidates who are at risk this time: Eti Atia, whose entire support rests on Haim Katz's deals;
Kati Shatrit, who runs a campaign calling on her supporters to vote for her so that she will not be removed from the list;
May Golan, against whom some of the most powerful women in the party are running a campaign;
Gadi Ybarkan, who resigned from the Knesset so that he could compete in the immigrant slot, but a petition on the subject is still pending;
And Patin Mola, whose candidacy as a representative of the Arab and Druze sector was disqualified by the Likud court, since he is a sitting MK.
Other names that have a question mark are Orli Levy Abacsis, this is her first run in Likud and it is difficult to assess her strength;
and Tali Ploskov, who was a member of the Knesset on behalf of the Kulanu party - but did not gain the necessary popularity as did a member of the party at the time, Eli Cohen.
