Krailling gets his first honorary citizen.

By decision of the municipal council, the highest municipal award is given to Eleonore Zwißler.

Krailling

- "That's wonderful for me." Eleonore Zwißler was delighted when her mayor Rudolph Haux personally delivered the decision of the municipal council that she would become an honorary citizen of Krailling.

With the award, the community wants to recognize Zwißler's social commitment to their fellow human beings over decades - especially for children and senior citizens.

Co-founder of the Würmtal Island

The list of her social commitments seems endless.

Zwißler was a co-founder of the Würmtal Island social service, a founding member of the Würmtal hospice association and assisted living at home, chairwoman of the Schober Foundation (1996 to 2013) and senior citizen representative for the community (2008 to 2020).

The qualified vocational school teacher initiated the first toddler group in the district of Starnberg in 1994 and in 2001 the first crèche in Krailling on Elisenstraße.

Zwißler is co-initiator of the "Krailling Card" for financially weak citizens and volunteers.

Most recently, together with the Planegger parish of St. Elisabeth, she set up the voluntary driving service for seniors.

"I always had supporters in everything I did," said the 88-year-old.

A large part of the earnings belong to them.

flair for social affairs

The fact that Eleonore Zwißler always knew what was wrong was also linked to her political career.

For 30 years, from 1990 to 2020, she was a municipal councilor, and from May 1990 to December 2006 she was also deputy mayor alongside Dieter Hager.

"I was mayor under her for 16 years," he says in retrospect with a smile.

Zwißler has a great feeling for social issues, according to Hager, who proposed her for honorary citizenship.

“Right from the start, she was keen to create and expand offers for children and senior citizens.

She was incredibly committed to this.” Zwißler also achieved a lot politically.

In 1995 she submitted the application for the citizens' initiative to develop the commercial area in the Kreuzlinger Forst and thus made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Kraillinger Innovationsmeile (KIM).

She also influenced the fact that the municipal building yard was moved to the estate of the Sisters of Mercy.

Eleonore Zwißler is the eighth person Krailling has honored with an honorary citizenship – and the first woman.

So far, former mayor Josef Bader (1884-1970), beneficiary Karl Bach (1901-1975), former mayor Johann Baptist Huber (1905-1991), priest Franz Oßner (1911-1994), chamber singer Hermann Prey (1929-1998), former mayor Helmuth Schreyer (1921-1993) and former mayor Dieter Hager.

The ceremony for conferring honorary citizenship will take place on September 14th.
