The young pharmacist, Muhammad Belqis, from Sheikh Saad Battous, launched a humanitarian initiative with the aim of providing free medicine to patients in need.
Bilqis, 24 years old, explained to SANA Youth Bulletin that the initiative’s goal is to support the people of the region and help those in need of medicine and who are unable to secure its price, explaining that he buys and secures medicine for free and delivers it to the patient’s home in addition to other medical services he provides for free within his work as a pharmacist.
Balqis pointed out that this initiative stemmed from his deep sense of the people’s suffering due to the high prices of medicines and his belief that a box of medicine contributes to alleviating their suffering. Many initiatives he undertook during the previous years.
He pointed out that the goal of his initiative is to help the needy people according to a medical prescription provided, which is continuous and unlimited in timing according to the available capabilities and includes all medicines except for the chronic ones or those not available in Syria.
According to Belqis, the number of beneficiaries has reached more than 400 since the launch of the initiative until now, hoping that his initiative will receive support so that he can expand it to include other services.
Louay Ismail, a lawyer and social work activist, confirmed that this initiative comes as a continuation of the charitable work carried out by many volunteers, and carries a deep humanitarian dimension, as it targets patients to alleviate their suffering by providing free medicine to those in actual need, which Belqis proposed in his initiative.
A number of beneficiaries of the initiative noted its importance, as both Yassin Abbas and Alaa El-Din Youssef Khader pointed to the importance of voluntary work that alleviates the suffering of patients in securing their requirements for medicines due to the high prices.
Mayada Ali, 80, a diabetic and stress patient, expressed her thanks to the supervisor of the initiative and the contributors to its success, stressing her role in helping her provide the necessary medicines for her diseases.
