The death of HSV legend Uwe Seeler shocked many people - not only in Hamburg.

There will be a few speeches at his funeral service, including from the mayor.

Hamburg – This news shocked all of football Germany: Uwe Seeler is dead. On July 21, 2022, the HSV legend died at the age of 85 surrounded by his family.

His funeral service will take place on August 10th in "his living room", the Hamburger Volksparkstadion.

The death of Uwe Seeler shocked the whole of football Germany - especially all HSV fans.

On August 10, 2022, the HSV legend's funeral service will take place in Hamburg's Volksparkstadion.

Admission to the arena should be from 12:30 p.m., the event starts at 2:00 p.m.

There is room for 57,000 people in the stands in the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, but the arena will probably not be fully occupied.

Around 1,000 invited guests are expected in the stadium, four of whom are to give a speech.

A funeral service will be held for HSV legend Uwe Seeler in front of fans and invited guests in Hamburg's Volksparkstadion.

The four speakers will be Uwe Seeler's close friend and comedian Olli Dittrich, HSV Sports Director Jonas Boldt, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and Hamburg's Mayor Peter Tschentscher.

The former First Mayor of Hamburg and current Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz is said to be among the invited guests.

Those who do not attend the funeral service can follow the event on live stream or TV.

The entire commemoration event will be broadcast on NDR from 1.30 p.m. and on ARD from 2 p.m.

Uwe Seeler was considered one of the best center forwards in the world in the 1950s and 1970s.

He made a total of 476 appearances for “his HSV”, scoring 404 goals.

Seeler also played 72 games for the German national team and scored 43 times.

Uwe Seeler has been an honorary citizen of his hometown of Hamburg since 2003.

After his death, Uwe Seeler was buried in Ohlsdorf.

The funeral service in honor of Uwe Seeler is now taking place in his "living room".

She will probably be followed online by thousands of people - "Uns Uwe" was not only popular in the Hanseatic city.

At the request of Uwe Seeler's family, none of the guests participating in the stadium should bring any floral decorations with them.

Instead, donations to the Uwe-Seeler-Foundation are welcome.

Participating fans must plan a different route than usual.

Due to construction work between Altona and Elbgaustraße, a replacement service is currently running to the stadium - the Stellingen/Arena station is closed.

As an alternative to the replacement service, there will be shuttle buses that will depart from the Hagenbecks Tierpark underground station and the Othmarschen S-Bahn station from 12:00 p.m.

On-site parking spaces will be available for cars.
