Bernhard Junge-Hülsing speaks in an interview about the vaccination and staff situation in the Starnberg district - and what the practices are now experiencing.

– The corona vaccination numbers in the district are stagnating this summer, but there is still a lot going on in the doctor’s offices – an unusual amount, says Dr.

The worsening shortage of skilled workers worries him.
According to Junge-Hülsing, almost all practices are now looking for staff.
His assessment of the situation.
Mr Junge-Hülsing, how many do you currently vaccinate in your practice?
After good demand in the spring, we now only vaccinate occasionally, about ten times a week.
How is the fourth vaccination accepted? Do you think the majority of the over 60s notice them?

Yes, I do think that many will be vaccinated with a fourth or fifth dose during the autumn infection season.
In addition, the flu vaccination must also be considered.
Have you noticed that many younger people also want the fourth vaccination, for example to go on holiday safely?
This also happens again and again in individual cases, especially with students before an exchange year in the USA or England - or with high school graduates who are planning a work and travel year or something similar.

How do you actually find that the BRK no longer operates the vaccination center and instead the company Vitolus Impf GmbH has opened the district vaccination center in Mörlbach?
A district like Starnberg with its high density of doctors and a still good supply situation does not actually need a vaccination center.
If the state requirement for operating a vaccination center should and must be complied with, the smallest solution that is cheapest for the district citizens is certainly the best.
How much does the general practice deal with the Corona summer wave?
The frequency of use of the practices, and not only of the general practitioners, is unusually high.
Many make up for the visits to the doctor they missed in winter or even in the past two years or bring them forward from the winter.
In addition, there are many infections that hit an immune system that is untrained by wearing a mask.
A lot of people also complain about bathing otitis (editor's note: ear infection after frequent swimming in the summer months) due to the Mediterranean warm lakes.
Are the practices in the district well equipped?
The shortage of skilled workers has also hit our practices with full force.
In fact, almost everyone is looking for staff.
Many training positions are still vacant, which is actually incomprehensible.
Medical assistants now earn well, and the job and development opportunities in practices, clinics, but also in municipalities and health insurance companies are very good.
In addition, you can negotiate and arrange your working hours very well after the training.
