Hundreds of people in the district trust the help of the Hospice Association Erding.

He comes up with an offer that goes far beyond the care of seriously ill patients.

Erding – The pandemic has presented the Erding hospice association with completely new challenges.

Visits to homes were limited to 30 minutes, making telephone counseling all the more valuable.

At the General Assembly in Klettham, the coordinators Mechtild Haubelt-Awe and Angelika Eckl reported relentlessly honestly on the practical work of the past two years.

"Where there was life before, you found orphaned rooms and sometimes also mentally orphaned residents," said Eckl.

And since time was so short, many conversations were conducted by telephone - "sometimes on Sundays and without time restrictions," she explained.

The association cared for 23 seniors in the homes.

The hospice attendants were there for them 872 hours during 598 calls.

They also provided support for 40 seriously ill patients in their homes.

They were called 553 times, and the hospice attendants provided 1,109 hours of help and attention.

In the Dorfen oncology department, 31 patients were treated for a total of 25 hours on 41 missions.

At the palliative care station in Wartenberg, 50 men and women received help from the hospice attendants for 41 hours on 80 missions.

The monitoring period ranged from one day to three years.

273 citizens were accompanied by palliative care and hospice care professionals, most of them on an outpatient basis, on 374 home visits.

Here the period is between one day and two years.

The development of child bereavement support is the latest baby of the hospice association, which now has 520 members.

"We keep getting inquiries, including from paediatricians," said coordinator Haubelt-Awe.

Erding would be the only club in the Munich area with this certified offer.

Other services include outpatient ethics advice, the funeral café and consultation hours on topics such as living wills, powers of attorney and living wills.

Vice-Chair Ottilie Kober is also involved here and completes ten counseling hours a month.

The seriously ill find a last home in the Sophienhospice on Sternweg in Erding, which opened in February and will be officially inaugurated on September 9th.

Leader Rita Gabler took the members of the assembly on a virtual tour and presented a building characterized by cheerful colors, cozy furnishings and joy.

The residents there are lovingly cared for, "because the best medicine in this world is still the human being," explained Gabler.

The patients also really appreciated the food that head chef Karin Leidenberger and her team prepared.

Her favorite dishes are also cooked, the smell of which awakens many childhood memories.

This is how patients who had already refused food began to eat again, says Gabler.

“This hospice is a beautiful place.

But it's still concrete.

The soul of a house comes from the employees,” she emphasized.

One patient even recovered so well "that we sent him home and he celebrated his 87th birthday at home".

So far, 30 patients have found a last home in the Sophienhospice.

The hospice association is financially sound.

This was shown by Michael Gruber's cash report.

Last year, however, the willingness to donate dropped, and around 20,000 euros less were collected.

In addition to membership fees, the association receives grants and subsidies.

A total of 282,000 euros flowed in income last year.

The expenses are similarly high.

According to Gruber, personnel costs alone amounted to almost 170,000 euros.

The full-time employees of the association also get a special payment, "because we want to remain attractive as an employer," said treasurer Gruber, who closed the past year with an increase of almost 30,000 euros.

This money goes into reserves.

The budget for the current financial year is a precision landing.

Gruber expects 269,500 euros in income and 270,700 euros in expenses.

Gruber has earmarked 80,000 euros for donations, so every euro is urgently needed.

The election of the advisory board was a matter of form.

Doris Minet was no longer available and Sosa Balderanou joined the team.

The other advisory board members are Petra Bauernfeind, Dr.

Roland Fritsch, Michaela Hess-Sauer, Franz Gasteiger, Lord Mayor Max Gotz, Nikolaus Hintermaier, Prof. Dr.

Gerd Hohlbach, Jörg Kaiser and Ruth Preusse.
