Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani confirmed that the Khiam satellite, launched by Iran today, "is a gold medal in the history of space science technology, due to its launch for peaceful purposes."
Kanaani said in his tweet on Twitter today: "Khiam is a new and unique achievement in the world for the Iranian Aerospace Organization, despite the American pressures and sanctions on Iran."
Earlier today, Iran launched the Khiam satellite from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
